What does ProclaimMoi mean? Well, it’s really a declaration of women’s beauty naturally and enhanced. The definition of Proclaim is to announce officially or publicly, and Moi is the french word for “Me?”. Moi also means having skin rich in melanin pigments. So altogether ProclaimMoi means to announce who you are to the world, regardless of skin color. Every shade of women is beautiful.
The vision I have for ProclaimMoi is to have a place where women are reminded of who they are. For women to understand that what they or society may see as flaws or imperfections are truly what makes them uniquely beautiful.
As women we play so many roles, we are literally a jack of all trades. Women are mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, therapists, counselors, nurses, and so much more to others. We as women play so many parts in this movie called life that we forget who the main character OURSELVES. As a Professional MUA I am here to help remind women that before they were everything to everyone, they were themselves. Individuals with goals and aspirations and that they need to focus on getting reacquainted with that woman. The old saying still remains true if you look good you feel good. ProclaimMoi’s mission statement is to remind women all over the world regardless of race, size, or social status, that they’re beautiful and that they should live out loud.
I guess by this point you would like to know who I am, who is the Moi in ProclaimMoi. Well, my name is Cirea (pronounced Sierra) Oliver. I am 31 years young, just a small-town woman with international DREAMS. I was born and raised in Gainesville, Ga 1 hour outside of Atlanta. I have 2 beautiful children named Nysean and Madyson (my protege). I have been doing makeup for over 10 years but have been in business for 3 years. I graduated from Gwyniss Mosby’s Makeup Academy Atlantas # 1 Makeup School on March 31, 2019. Gwyniss Mosby is a world-renowned makeup artist and instructor that has worked with Toni Braxton, TLC, Jill Scott, Tupac, and so many more celebrities. So you know I was trained by the best. Many people ask me why I started doing makeup? The answer is always a shocker, I found my love for makeup in Ga’s State Prison.
Yes, I did say prison… at the age of 19 I was sentenced to 3 years in prison unfortunately while away at college I was raped and defended myself and was charged for the assault. I know mindboggling right? Nevertheless, it was there that I saw what makeup truly was it’s not just mascara, lashes, and lipstick. Behind those walls women old and young used makeup to identify themselves, makeup was used for therapeutic reasons. It was used to showcase a woman’s individuality. Something the state of GA stripped us of once we became inmates. Their women no longer had a birth name all that mattered was how much time we had and the crime we committed. Being incarcerated at such a young age when I was already going through a natural identity crisis, I turned to makeup to help me deal with the time I had ahead of me. It was there that I learned to love all my flaws and imperfections, where I found out the true definition of beauty is acceptance of who you are. Makeup was just an extension of my natural beauty. I have a saying that “at ProclaimMoi it’s more than make-up” because it truly is, I have seen makeup save lives literally. Once I was released from prison I still used makeup to get me through the hard times. Makeup kept me when I wanted to commit suicide, makeup helped me when my fiance died Jan 9, 2020, makeup helped me when everything I had was stolen from me, makeup helped me when I was diagnosed with Crohns Disease in 2016 and when I received my colostomy bag in 2016 and again in 2020. I truly love showing women their beauty, I love pouring into my clients and helping them see that the before is just as beautiful f not more than the after. With makeup you can learn so much for lifelike trusting the process, understanding that it may start out a mess but it ends beautifully. I am living proof that “Makeup Saves Lives”.
